Le Marie Marché in
Zuid-Holland, Nederland
In short
In The Hague, Le Marie Marché takes over iconic spots in the city centre: around the Lange Vijverberg overlooking the Hofvijver pond, in the stately Hofkwartier, and along the Noordeinde. Three squares, three moods, three takes on French feeling. Brocante under the trees, panettone and olive oil from Italy, jewellery and art from Hague makers, and flowers that smell like the south. Entry is always free.
The Hague is the heart of Le Marie Marché and the place where it all began in 2016. Our home base sits beside the Lange Vijverberg, overlooking the Hofvijver and the Mauritshuis. Every first Saturday and Sunday of the month, from March through December, some seventy stalls fill the space beneath the lime trees. Entrance is always free, and the Binnenhof is a one-minute walk away.
From the Lange Vijverberg, Le Marie Marché also travels through The Hague's neighbourhoods. The Hofkwartier around the Prinsestraat hosts a Place du Tertre style edition with live painters. The Zeehelden Quarter, the Frederik Hendriklaan and the Regentesse Quarter rotate through the summer with their own editions. Around Easter we move to the Noordeinde, and on Prinsjesdag we set up the Prinsjesmarkt around the Lange Voorhout.
What you find here is intentionally varied. Brocanteurs with enamelled pitchers and old suitcases, charcuterie and cheese from France and Italy, Marseille soap, jewellery from Hague silversmiths, Breton crêpes, and French chansons that play all day. A tip: arrive around eleven when everything is freshly laid out, or late in the afternoon for a glass and one last round past the stalls you had not yet seen.

The Lange Vijverberg is our home. Beneath the old trees by the Hofvijver, with the palace in the background, it feels dreamy and peaceful here. You can wander for hours past brocante, flowers, jewellery and delicacies. The same place, the same atmosphere.
